In order to meet training needs in the field of social inclusion, this project offers a new type of internship aimed at preparing Francophone service workers to work with people with a developmental disability. Designed to address a significant social challenge in the Canadian Francophonie, the new internship will be offered by La Cité College in Ottawa in collaboration with the Association pour l’intégration sociale d’Ottawa (AISO) and the University of Ottawa. Meetings between the AISO and parents of children with a developmental disability have highlighted the need for training and coaching to improve the employability of those citizens. At its end, La Cité wishes to improve its training offering and research capacities in this area to better serve the Francophone community in Ontario and Canada. This project is made possible by a grant from the Community and College Social Innovation Fund of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.
